I removed "Nathanisms" from my side bar and posted them here:
I was thinking out loud and said to Nathan, "I think I want to be a nurse." He immediately replies, "Like a wet nurse?" (I was still breastfeeding Deacon at the time).
Nathan was wearing his sexy leather jacket and I said he looked like James Dean. He joked, "Who? The sausage guy?" No. That's Jimmy Dean Ü
For some reason, I often catch myself saying "It's all good in the hood." So now Nathan likes to say, "It's all great behind the gate." Because hey, some people live in gated communities and not in 'Da Hood.
I was jealous because Deacon seems to be a Daddy's Boy right now. Nathan answered, "It's because Daddy has fun, but he'll soon realize that Mommy has funds." I have been spoiling Deac with some new toys lately...

May I Have The Envelope Please?
I've been checking the mail box three times a day! We were the Utah winner in the "Red Robin Fool For Love Contest." If you click this link: http://www.redrobingourmetburgerscontest.com/winners.aspx
and scroll to the bottom, you will see "Aubrey H---Utah" (that's me Ü)
It was Nathan's idea to enter the contest by writing an essay about our love story in 100 words or less. My first draft was around 700 words, so I had to do a lot of editing...ha, ha...but it paid off. We didn't win the trip to the Bahama's, but we got a $50 gift certificate to Red Robin & a $200 pre-paid Visa gift card. Woo-hoo! We're going shopping for food storage items Ü
I should probably post what I wrote, right? :) Here it is in EXACTLY 100 words:
"It was my first blind date. When you knocked, my sister answered the door. She came to get me and whispered, “He's the one.” I rolled my eyes, but grinned. We got along so easily that night. After four months, you proposed. You were moving out-of-state for school the next month, so I anticipated a long engagement. You laughed and said, “No, I want you to come with me.” Thirty days to plan a wedding!?!?.....Five years later, I love you even more. It was my first blind date---how could I know it would be my last?"
Those were my sister Carla's exact words. I hadn't even seen my date yet and she was convinced he was the one for me :) She reminded me of another story when we went dress shopping at David's Bridal:
The associate asked when the wedding was & I said, "January 11th."
She said, "Wow, January 11th, 2004? You're really planning ahead."
Then I said, "No. January 11th, 2003....three weeks from now."
She said, "I'm sorry. We won't be able to help you."
"Things My Mother Taught Me"
If you're looking for an enrichment activity idea, our theme this month was "Things My Mother Taught Me." Pictures of everyone's moms were displayed and we tried match each mother with her daughter. The dinner tables were decorated with things you might learn from your mother, such as: Homemaking, Womanhood, Budgeting, Education, Health & Fitness, etc. Here's the picture I displayed of my mom:
Everyone prepared a few sentences about one thing they learned from their mother to share with the group. I don't take enough opportunities to thank my mom for everything she taught me, so I'm posting this for her. Plus, this is the closest thing I have to a journal, so I think it is proper Ü.
"My mother taught me about finances. When I was 10, my friends were getting the talk about the birds and the bees----but I remember getting the talk about amortization tables and how interest works. She taught me to pay tithing first, to save, and to be responsible with credit. When I got my first paycheck at 16, she encouraged me to open a Roth IRA. At 19, she suggested I contribute to my company's 401k plan. The things she taught me have benefited our marriage and even guided me towards my career. I hope to pass all these things and more to my children."

Happy Birthday Miken!!
Just a few of the reasons why we love Miken:
-She has an energetic attitude-
-She is an awesome piano player-
-She has an energetic attitude-
-She is an awesome piano player-
-She has a strong testimony of Jesus Christ-
-She's a great sister, daughter, aunt, friend, and mom!-
-She's a great sister, daughter, aunt, friend, and mom!-
And the number one reason why I love Miken?
I'll never forget the day she said,
"Hey, my brother just got off his mission....wanna date him?"

February Findings

This month we had one "extra" day,
And still it seemed to get away.
I see another poem is due,
So here it is--our monthly review:
Nathan's done well with his exercise plan,
Twenty pounds lighter! I'm proud of my man.
Our poor neighbor, Laurel--she had a backache.
Nathan decided to make her some cheesecake.
It seems other neighbors have since "found out."
Now their backs are hurting, what's that all about? : )
I've finished a book that I'm embarrassed to name.
It's not a trashy novel, but I'm abashed all the same.
Is it due to the fact that it's written for youth?
Is that why I feel so strange and uncouth?
I read it at the library and thought it was great!
As did the girl behind me........yes, she was eight.
Deacon's getting sassy & it's starting to show,
He shakes his head fast, and says, "No-No!"
He likes to make forts, in every small nook;
And drag in his blanket, a toy, or a book.
He's starting to wave and can barely say "Hi."
His grin is a drug that money can't buy.
This month we sold our house near the college.
The home that taught Nate his remodeling knowledge.
I love 'Before/After' photos, so they're here in a link,
Nathan did most the work, right down to the sink.
But he wants a disclaimer to go with these pics:
"It was my first job & there's things I would fix"
We moved from this house almost 2 years ago,
But went back one last time, to say 'bye to old Joe.
Nathan with our former neighbor, Joseph
